WI Project Innocence Finally Responds!

Wisconsin's Project Innocence has long held Steven Avery up as an example of justice gone wrong. A day after the horrific details and additional charges against his 16 year old nephew came to light, they finally withdrew his pictures from their web site. They still however, stick to their guns (JS Online: DayWatch):

"'Whatever may or may not be happening now doesn't change the fact that he did not commit that crime in 1985. It's absolutely undisputed,' Findley said. 'There are many things that went wrong in that case and we better learn from them so we can better apprehend and convict the guilty.'"

Perhaps. But perhaps the authorities in the original case were desperately trying to get this evil 'thing' out of society so that others couldn't be hurt - or worse. This 'thing' had a lengthy relationship with the law - all bad - and had shown a troubling pattern of increased disrespect for the law and societal morals. The fact is, he spent more than half his life in prison not for a crime he didn't commit, but because he committed crimes that called for his removal from society - for the good of society. If evil the likes of Avery remained in prison, innocent people like Theresa Halbach would still be contributing positively to a better society!
