Over a dinner conversation this weekend with 'mixed' company, I was brought to task for suggesting that the election this year would not be won over the stance on the war in Iraq. I suggested that most voters have lost sight of the war and have turned - or reapplied- their focus where they always have: themselves and their pocketbooks. What's in it for me? The Democrats have always been willing to offer a banquet of options to answer that question."For four decades, Democratic candidates have had to move to the center to have a chance of getting to the White House. But now, sensing a shift in the national mood, both candidates are reverting to liberal orthodoxy."
