Playing Politics With the Sick

This Op-Ed piece from the Washington Post illustrates through factual rebuttal, the length that politicians will go for their own gain. Stating that President Bush is for the ban of stem cell research is an outright LIE. The facts are, he began the funding for stem cell research in 2001 with $24 million and continues to support the effort. Since 2002, stem cell lines for research have increased from 1 to 22. Finally, President Bush also recognizes the moral implications of further advancements and the concern that millions of Americans have in this regard.

This 'tactic' by the proponents of 'no questions asked' and 'no limits on funding' programs is disgusting. These are the same people who cry out against 'massive cuts' in programs when the fact is, the RATE of increase is reduced, not the funding itself. It's old, tiring and, in their own terms, polarizing. Justify your needs with facts and we'll come around when a REAL need is presented.
